An American study has found a link between frequent ear infections – one of the most common childhood diseases – and an increased risk of being overweight in adulthood.

It’s thought that the link might be due to a damaged sense of taste caused by the ear infection. The American Psychological Association suggested that the damage could be linked to a preference for fatty foods.

A study of over 6,000 people found that those with a history of ear infections were 62% more likely to be obese.
