If you fancy a treat, try these oranges topped with sweet meringue, it's a great recipe to make with kids.
Method
- Preheat the oven to 200ºC or gas mark 6.
- Cut the oranges in half and using a knife and without cutting into the white pith, carefully cut round the inside of the oranges. Then roughly separate the segments.
- To make the meringue, first separate the egg white from the yolk and whisk the egg white until light and fluffy. While still whisking, gradually add the sugar.
- Top each orange half with meringue mixture and create peaks using a fork.
- Put the oranges on a baking tray and bake in the oven for 10 minutes until the meringue goes crispy.
- You can serve them hot or cold. If you want to serve them hot, get an adult to help you.
